WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!
The One Console That Does It All
The Phantom HP is a new South African gaming console that is about to take the world by storm. It consists of ‘state of the art’ technology that is able to do everything that three of the world’s most popular gaming consoles i.e. Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo can do and in certain aspects…..even better – all in one gaming console!
South Africa has something else to be proud of! Last week Reinventech, a little known South African company, announced that a gaming console that is capable of reading and playing games from three of the world’s most popular gaming consoles has finally been developed by Reinventech. “This has always been a dream of ours to build a console on South African soil that can play multiple formats of gaming software. Now avid gamers don’t have to buy the three different types of consoles due to the fact that the phantom HP is capable of playing all three types at the same price as the Xbox 360,” says Chris Hott, marketing manager for Reinventech. Not only can the Phantom HP read different disc formats but has also improved many aspects of each of the worlds best selling consoles. The main developer responsible for the Phantom HP, Anthony Price from the University of Cape Town, with a masters in information technology says, “It’s taken us years of re-engineering the consoles to accommodate all three formats, but we have finally done it!”
What this all means is that gamers can buy one console to play multiple formats, and download firmware updates as to keep the console compatible with new game releases. In the next couple of weeks consumers will be able to purchase a limited amount of units that are currently being produced. The launch is planned for Johannesburg in a couple of week’s time. The exact venue and date has not yet been disclosed.
“This is not just any gaming console. It is more powerful than all three of the best selling consoles as the strong aspects have all been integrated into a synergistic
environment that does not stall or hang,” says Chris Hott. He also added that, “now consumers don’t have to be brand loyal and they can buy all three formats of game consoles and never be excluded from the fun as certain games are only developed for certain consoles which is very frustrating for the avid gamer. We expect a future version to also support full PC games as well!”
Hott, Price and Andew Swiezy have started their brand new company, Reinventech, just after finalizing the console and aim to attract investors to roll-out the console globally. They are currently in negotiations with a major IT company based in India and have not yet decided on whom to partner with.
“We didn’t think we could pull it off, especially since we are competing against consumer giants that spend millions into R & D. However, we have, and this is all very breathtaking,” says Andew Swiezy, the team electrical engineer, from Cracow University of Technology – Poland.
The specifications for the Phantom HP are pending on final supplier chain agreements. If you would like to have a word with us, please visit http://www.reinventech.co.za and fill in the form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
The Developers
Reinventech was started three years ago by three partners, Chris Hott, Anthony Price and Andew Sweizy.
Chris Hott (37) studied his MBA majoring in Marketing Management at Wits University. He has been obsessed with the gaming industry from the day he laid his eyes on Pac Man. At the age of 37 he is still obsessed with games.
Anthony Price (41) completed his Masters in Information Technology at the University of Cape Town. He has worked for major IT firms in the UK and Germany. He is the lead programmer.
Andew Sweizy ( 38 ) has been living in South Africa for just over four years now and was previously head of the electrical engineering department at the University of Cracow in Poland. He fell in love with South Africa after a lectureship at the University of the Free State, where he also met his wife. He was then approached by Hott and Price to help them develop the console due to his uncanny understanding of electrical engineering.
The rest of the Reinventech team is split between developers here in South Africa, Poland and India.
We hope that all goes well for this daring company and wish them all the luck and hopefully this will become another South African success story.
